Decano

Each 30-degree zodiac sign is divided into three decans (or decanates) of 10 degrees each. Each decan is sub-ruled by a different planet, adding nuance to the sign's expression. For example, Aries is divided into: 1st decan (0-10°) ruled by Mars (pure Aries), 2nd decan (10-20°) sub-ruled by Sun/Leo (creative Aries), 3rd decan (20-30°) sub-ruled by Jupiter/Sagittarius (philosophical Aries).
