Conjunction

A conjunction" class="entity-link">conjunction occurs when two planets occupy the same degree of the zodiac (within orb). Their energies fuse into a single force — sometimes harmoniously, sometimes overwhelmingly, depending on the planets involved. Venus conjunct Jupiter brings abundance and joy; Mars conjunct Saturn can feel like driving with the brakes on. Conjunctions are the most powerful aspects because the energies can't be separated — they must learn to work together.

In a real chart, Moon conjunct Pluto creates intensely deep emotions — this person experiences feelings at a volcanic level and may have had a powerful, sometimes dominating mother figure. Sun conjunct Mercury (a very common conjunction" class="entity-link">conjunction since Mercury never strays far from the Sun) makes the mind and identity intertwined — these people think about themselves constantly or strongly identify with their ideas. When three or more planets conjoin, you get a stellium, concentrating enormous energy in one sign and house. A common misconception is that conjunctions are always positive because the planets are 'together.' The nature of a conjunction depends entirely on which planets are involved — benefics (Venus, Jupiter) joining forces produce wonderful results, while malefics (Mars, Saturn) together can create frustration or harshness. For chart interpretation, conjunctions are the first aspects to examine because they represent the most concentrated points of energy, often defining dominant personality traits that are impossible to ignore.
