Aspectos

Aspects are specific geometric angles between two planets in a birth chart. They describe how planetary energies interact — whether they flow easily (harmonious) or create friction (challenging). The five major aspects are: conjunction (0°, merging), sextile (60°, opportunity), square (90°, tension), trine (120°, flow), and opposition (180°, polarity). Aspects are measured with an 'orb' — a tolerance of a few degrees. Tighter orbs create stronger effects.

In a real chart, the difference between a Moon trine Venus and a Moon square Venus is striking: the trine person naturally attracts affection and creates emotional harmony with ease, while the square person may struggle with tension between their emotional needs and their desire for love, often feeling that comfort and romance pull in different directions. Aspects also operate in transit: when transiting Pluto squares your natal Sun, you might face a years-long period of power struggles and identity transformation. A common misconception is that 'hard' aspects (squares, oppositions) are bad and 'soft' aspects (trines, sextiles) are good. In practice, squares and oppositions drive growth and achievement, while trines can enable laziness. Many successful people have charts dominated by challenging aspects. Aspects matter for chart interpretation because they reveal the internal dialogues between different parts of your psyche — a chart with no aspects to a planet suggests that planet operates in isolation, while a heavily aspected planet is central to the personality.
