Birth chart is the most common term for a natal chart, especially in modern Western astrology. It refers to the same astrological map — the positions of celestial bodies at your time and place of birth. The birth chart is divided into 12 houses (life areas) and shows where each planet falls in the zodiac. The birth chart also reveals timing: when transiting planets activate sensitive points in your chart, the themes of those placements come alive. A common misconception is that two people with the same Sun sign have the same birth chart. In reality, even a few minutes' difference in birth time shifts the house cusps dramatically, and the Moon moves fast enough to change signs within a single day. This is why accurate birth data — date, exact time, and location — is essential for meaningful chart work. The birth chart remains relevant throughout your entire life, serving as the baseline against which all predictive techniques are measured.
